Give it a quick Google and no matter what source, mosquitoes rank at the top over all including human on human homicides.

Mosquitoes carry different diseases that can be fatal such as Malaria, West Nile Virus, and recently the Zika Virus. Don’t be fooled, these diseases don’t only exist on other continents and in far away places. They exist here in the United States as well posing a threat.

Mosquitoes are a nuisance to humans and can ruin time outside. They they are not selective and will attack and bite into many species and don’t care who or what it is. Why is this a problem? Mosquitoes will bite and feed on reptiles, birds, and whatever else satisfies their blood meal. They will go lay eggs, get back out on the attack and bite into humans for their next meal. This transmission is what causes the most disease. So, while you may think that local mosquitoes don’t pose a threat, don’t be too certain as they may have just fed on the diseased birds or other animals in the area.

What you can do to protect yourself and those around you?

There are multiple steps you can take to help lessen mosquitoes in your lawn and outdoor living areas.

1. Keep tall and over grown vegetation cut down and away from areas you spend time.

2. Remove standing water areas

3. Use fans while outdoors because mosquitoes do not fly well where there is wind

4. Hire a company to do mosquito treatments. They will target the areas mosquitoes rest with a special blend that kills and prevents the reproduction of mosquitoes.
